Managing your money
iCash is useful if you're a parent of teenagers - set them up as
an additional cardholder and you can set the parameters up front. This will give your
teenager the freedom to use their card within those parameters.
They can use it like a credit card, and you can relax knowing they're spending their own money and not borrowing. Setting them up as an additional cardholder,
with you as the primary cardholder, gives you the freedom to set spending limits on their additional card.* Children need to be at least 16 years old to get their own iCash card or to be an additional cardholder on
someone else's iCash account. Setting spend / transaction limits*
You can set up your card (or your additional card) so it works in a way you're comfortable with. You can, for example, specify no ATM withdrawals or set a dollar limit for internet purchases. You can set or change these limits online by logging in, by calling 0800 75 73 72 or by visiting any National Bank branch.
* Spending limits can be imposed on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Transaction limits allow you to opt-out of any of the following types of transactions - ATM withdrawals, branch withdrawals, EFTPOS, online, text transfers and/or online transfers. Spend and transaction limits cannot be imposed for specific merchants or specific types of websites.
Security
iCash is PIN protected, so it's safer than carrying cash around. It also has a chip and is backed by our World Class Fraud Protection.
If the card is misplaced, you can temporarily block it until it's found. If your card is lost, you should notify us immediately by calling 0800 75 73 72 (option 0, or +64 4 803 3023 from overseas) or by coming in to your nearest National Bank branch. We'll cancel the card immediately and issue you a new one. A replacement card fee may apply.

Learning about managing money
iCash is a useful tool to teach young people about budgeting and managing money. They can keep track of their spending in a way that works for them - chances are their first choice will be online or by text. They can check their balance, get a list of their latest transactions or order a statement. They can also choose to get text alerts to let them know when their balance is low, and to confirm reloads.
